Search Engine Optimisation

Hi All,

Today being New Year's Eve, I would like to wish you all the best for the coming year, keep writing and above all keep that dream of working for yourself  from home alive.

Today's post is all about search engine optimisation, or SEO.

Baby Steps To Good SEO Practices

Search Engine Optimization or SEO, is the art of getting your website or blog on the front page of Google Search for specific search terms. In this article, I will cover a couple of basic SEO steps which you can learn and apply to your online business instantly.

Keywords and keyword phrases. Keyword phrases are niche specific words that people search for. For example, a keyword could be something like “dog training” (2 keywords). A keyword phrase is a short phrase which contains the keywords you are targeting such as “house training for dogs”. Basically, you want to target these high search volume keywords and key phrases and use them in your blog posts or article frequently.

Your job is to find a right balance in keyword density. If you overuse keywords in your website, your website will come off as spam by the search engines. Try to keep density within 2-3% to be safe.

Are you the Authority site on the net? In general, Google gives pages with lots of quality back links, high traffic volume and social interactions such as blog comments a good page ranking. These kind of sites are referred to as “Authority sites”. Your job is to make your website become the authority site by adopting good SEO practices.

Tips for writing – As a general rule of thumb, include your keyword inside the title and on the first paragraph of the body. Whenever possible, bold or italicize the keyword or key phrase that you are targeting.

Finally, you should fill up your website with good, relevant content as the Google spider crawlers are getting smarter and smarter at picking up what’s fluff and what’s not. Adopt these good SEO practices and you’ll be on your way to tons of traffic.

Using Youtube to gain traffic

Hi ,
It's time to talk traffic! Traffic is the term used online to describe the visitors to your site.
Today I've got a few tips for you about using social media to get more traffic to your site, and  we'll begin with Youtube.
If you  need help and are suffering from information overload as a beginner online then go here for the best and most affordable training online, it will have you earning three weeks from the day you register.

YouTube Tips For Marketing Your Business Using Videos

YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world and is the largest video search engine in the world. It is also currently owned by Google – The largest search engine in the world (as of 2011). Right now, there are millions of videos being viewed everyday and if you don’t tap into YouTube as a source of traffic and marketing medium for your business, you’ll potentially be leaving tons of money on the table.

Let’s look at some YouTube tips for marketing your business. The best way to market your videos is through viral videos. Viral videos are cool, interesting and valuable videos that make people want to share them with their friends. Thankfully, YouTube allows for easy sharing on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter, and also allows fans to subscribe to a video channel for the latest updates.

Get a video up onto YouTube and tweak it accordingly. Make sure at the end of your videos there is a call to action so that you can tell your viewers to take the next action such as visit a website or follow you on Facebook or Twitter.

In the description area, always include your link to your website on the first line of the first paragraph. This helps improve SEO and gets a free backlink to your website. It is also the first thing people see when they watch the video.

In your description area, make sure you include high search volume keywords so that people can find your content easily. YouTube ranks high in the search engines so by putting your content on YouTube, it makes your stuff much easier to find.

Last but not least, promote your videos to your list of followers. The more people that view your videos, the more eyeballs it will get because YouTube will feature more popular videos in the front of the searches.

Next post will cover use of Facebook to market your site,
so until then, keep dreaming the dream :-)

Tips for online newbies

Hi everyone,

Here's the top ten tasks and tips I recommend to help you set up a blog or website for yourself online:
To get the best training online that will take you in an amazing three weeks to earning money go  here

1. Pick a niche.

This can be about a passion or hobby of yours, but if your hobby is something obscure then it's likely not going to attract a lot of visitors to your blog or site!
A good tip to help in choosing a niche, is to keep on the look out while going about your day to day business, chatting to friends about what their interests are,and asking them what they are likely to go searching for online .Checking out Trends on Google  can also give you some ideas.
Bear in mind though, if you're interested yourself in the subject matter, it makes it a whole lot easier to write about!
If you're a beginner in the online world, taking part in a good training course is highly advisable, you will save yourself  many months, even years, of heartache, frustration and timewasting. Go here for the best one on the web.

2. Choose and register a domain name.

The name should preferably include a word or words relating to your chosen niche, this is to make it easier for your site/blog to be found by the search engines.
For example, if you choose to write about dogs, then Allaboutdogs.com would be a good domain name.
I recommend www.namecheap.com

3. Hosting.

Hosting companies basically provide a place for you to store your files from your website,  a good hosting company will ensure your site is online and available for 99.9% of the time, so it is always advisable not to choose free hosting companies as they can disappear at anytime, and therefore so will your site.
I am using Google's Blogger.com to write this blog, it is free, and is a perfect way to hone your skills until you feel ready to invest some money into your online business.

4. Research your topic.

It is vitally important you know your subject matter, it really isn't good enough to find something online relating to your chosen  niche and then copy/pasting it onto your own site. This is plagiarism and most search engines will eventually penalise you for this by shutting down your site.

5. Outsourcing.

If you're not so good at the writing side of your business, this can be outsourced for a small fee to reliable places online like Elance.com, but sourcing articles on the cheap can be fraught with difficulties. The quality of your outsourced content  will need to be proof-read by you to make sure it is free from spelling and grammatical mistakes, and in my experience it is far more productive to write your own content.

Practice writing about your niche regularly, and you will find that over time it becomes easier, the content will be original and fresh, and not to mention the fact that you are actually honing another skill to add to your skillset.

6. Take action.

Lots of newbies spend hours online researching  their next move. You can spend days finding newer and 'quicker' ways to make that first buck online. There are hundreds of products out there promising you riches in very short periods of time, all while taking your money, only for you to find they never really fulfill their  promise.
There is no fast way to making money online, but nothing will happen for sure if you don't actually take any action on what you have learned.
Follow these steps, learn as you go, and don't waste any of your money on the false promises of some of these so-called gurus who promise you thousands in your first six months.

7. Stay focused.

Don't start more than one project at once. This will only divide your energies when what is required is consistency and focus for the first month to six weeks, solely on your new site, to get it established on a firm foundation.
Add fresh original content on a regular basis to draw attention to your site from the search engine spiders, whose raison d'etre is to promote and encourage original, genuine and new content on the web.

8. Be consistent.

Don't just register your domain, get hosting, make one post on your site and then sit back. The key to success is consistency. Post some articles every three or four days, once a week to ten days if you're working full-time, just make sure you keep it regular. With patience you will see your archive (previous posts) building and this in itself can be a huge motivator. There's nothing quite like seeing your writing in print online for all to see :-).
Use spellcheck and make sure to read over what you've written as nothing looks worse than badly written content, it screams 'I couldn't care less'  to your visitors.

9. Information overload.

This can be the number one reason why newbies fail to make a start online. The amount of information out there can be totally overwhelming resulting in confusion and procrastination. When starting out working from home or just setting up a site for yourself, a certain amount of self discipline is required to maintain your focus.
Set an allotted time for tasks such as reading your emails, checking out some online competition in your niche, researching your topic etc. If you don't do this, surfing away from the task in hand is all too easy, and next thing you know, two hours have passed with absolutely nothing concrete achieved in that time.
Set some goals on a daily basis for yourself,  it's a major confidence booster when they are achieved.  This is vital when starting out in an online business, which can be quite daunting at first, but once you begin to see your goals being met you will find it easier to keep that momentum going.

10. Be yourself.

Visitors to your blog in particular will empathise more readily with a blog which 'speaks' to them. Write as if you were actually speaking to somebody, your writing will stand out and will appeal to your readers encouraging them to return.  At the end of the day, unless you are just passing time and are not interested in eventually making some money, these visitors will become the lifeblood of your website.
The visitors you get to your site are called 'Traffic' and I will discuss  in a later post the best ways for you to increase traffic to your site.

Hope you find these tips useful,  until next time ,

keep dreaming the dream of working for yourself from home!

Using link exchange for gaining traffic

Hi everyone,

Wow did my meetings with fellow online marketers get me motivated or what!! It really does benefit both you and your work at home colleagues to meet up once in a while.
I learnt there are many different avenues to take when working for yourself from home, if you decide to set up your own website, then here are some tips I picked up during the last week -

Link Market - Free Link Exchange, Link Building and Link Trade
Have you ever tried to exchange links, link building, or trade links? Was it hard? Use Link Market instead; - it is easy to use, free and very smart. It will save you hours of work.

When used sensibly, website link exchanges can draw an exceptional amount of website traffic and greatly increase your search engine outcome. Nevertheless, remember that too many link exchanges can be harmful. You do not want your website clogged with other website links. This can look tacky and cause visitors to turn away from your website almost immediately. You can write to other website owners and ask them to place a link from their website to yours, but there are a few rules of etiquette you should follow. When you ask another website owner to place a link on their website, remember you are asking them for a favor. They are under no obligation to comply. If you are asking this favor from a website with more traffic than your own, this can greatly improve your link popularity and generate more website traffic your way.

If you decide to become a member of a website club that exchanges links, do your research carefully. Here are the top five tips to get you started with your website link exchange:

1. Show respect. When asking another person to place a link for your website on his or her website, be sure to ask nicely. It is very important to remain respectful. Never sound demanding or brag about how great your website, products or services are and how the person you are asking would benefit from granting you this favor. Do not make it sound like they need you. Also, do not ask many questions or attempt to flatter the recipient of your request. This may make them to delete your email inquiry immediately. Your request should only run between 2 - 6 sentences, not half a page. Be polite when asking, but do not over do it. You do not want to sound like a fraud.

2. Make sure you proofread your request. Before sending out a request to another website, check your grammar and spelling. You want the recipient to see you as a professional, not as a person who cannot spell correctly. Spelling errors and bad grammar can kill any opportunity to promote your website quickly. Avoid using slang in your request. Nothing can be more distracting and annoying than a poorly written request.

3. Send your request from your website’s professional email address, not your own email address. It is unprofessional to request this favor from a personal email account or a free email account. For example, if your website is www.lovemydog.org, then send your prospective link associates your request through the website’s email address: contact@lovemydog.org. Do not use your own personal account or a free email account.

4. Have a nice, high quality looking website. This will help you to look more serious and professional than a low quality generic looking web site. Also, be sure your website content looks professional and is free of any spelling or grammatical errors. Lose the clutter. Websites cluttered with ads can be distracting and hard to read.  Having an attractive website will also help encourage other website owners to be more willing to work with you. Working with a professional is more attractive than being associated with an amateur.

5. Before you ask for your link on another person’s website, you can offer to place his or her link on your website first. This can increase your chances of having the other website place your link to their site. It can be as simple as one hand washes another. Just make sure that whatever links you use on your website have similar content to your own. It is better to have the websites compliment each other rather than clash with each other.

Exchanging web links is a great way to increase traffic to your website by increasing “link popularity” which can have a major affect on where your website appears on search engines. The websites that exchange web links with you will surely heighten your link popularity. This is especially true when the websites you are exchanging web links with have similar content as yours.

You can increase your targeted website traffic by exchanging web links with other websites. This will increase your link popularity and drive more people to your website through the links. Now do your research carefully and make your list on who you would like to contact for web link exchanges. Be careful to follow these top five tips closely and write away!
These tips are for those who already have a website set up but are just starting out in the world of online marketing.

More in a few days but until then,

keep dreaming the dream!

Blogging for a living

Hi everyone,

Today I'm feeling a little isolated. This was not something I had foreseen, missing the daily contact with others, even if it was in a job I hated!
Working for yourself from home can be a bit lonely, but if you are aware of this danger from the outset, then you can put some strategies in place to combat this.

I've decided to join the local bookclub, and have done an online search of the local business networking groups in my area involved in online businesses. I have a lunch meeting set up already for tomorrow, and a coffee date with another person in my line of business for Monday!

This is an important part of setting up your own business at home. Surround yourself with like minded people, do some networking and meet people who are focused and preferably with experience in the same area as yourself.

Today I'm going to share with you a programme that I found while researching another income stream for myself, this is vital for success for your working from home business. More than one income stream is possible, but there are so many out there, I was becoming somewhat overwhelmed with which way was the best way to go. This one I signed up with has shown itself to be very promising.

It's with Niche Profit Classroom  a  company that teaches you how to create and be successful with your own online business.
Check it out , it's very affordable and with their excellent reputation you will be earning in no time.
I'm well on the road to financial independence, and it feels great :-), thanks to Adam Short's Niche Profit Classroom programme.

Check it out it's a winner, especially for a beginner!

Working for yourself from home

Hi there,

Imagine this: working for yourself from home -
A day when you decide what time to get up
A day when you can choose whether to linger over your morning coffee for as long as you like
A day that is planned to suit you, no more rush hour commutes to a job you hate ..

All this is possible! There are many companies online offering opportunities that will enable you to become your own boss, and say goodbye to the stress of working for somebody else  If you're prepared to put some time in after work in the evenings, or at the weekends, it is possible to build a very nice second income stream, eventually allowing you to become secure enough to say goodbye to that job forever!
But how to know which one to invest in?

If you've become unemployed recently, made redundant, or been forced to take early retirement, there are still options open to you. All you need is an internet connection, a pc or laptop, and a good grasp of basic English grammar.
It was a dream of mine for at least ten years to become my own boss and ideally work from home, cutting out expensive overheads and that stress in the mornings of what to wear, putting on make up, doing my hair, grabbing my hand bag , and that last minute desperate search for the car keys.
After investing money in products which promised the earth but were practically fruitless in terms of income, I found one which actually delivered. Working for myself from home has become a reality and has enabled me to walk from a job that was killing me slowly every day , a dead-end position in a company that was beginning to flounder, a common scene for many in our current economic climate.

Contrary to what some online gurus will tell you, there is no magic wand, you need to be prepared to put in the time and effort required in the beginning. I have been working writing as a freelance from home now for over four years, and in the beginning it was quite scary as I had very little experience with working online.
I didn't want to leave a paying job (are you crazy??!!) and so decided to devote an hour or two each evening to build up another income for myself. I did this as a freelance writer. Writing blog posts, articles, copywriting, and lots more smaller stuff that really didn't require huge talent in the area of writing.
I spent weekends polishing my skills, taking online courses in grammar, just to expand my knowledgebase.

Three weeks ago, I am delighted to say, I handed in my resignation!
In my next post I'm gonna describe my average day, the day I dreamed about for many years, the day where I'm my own boss :-)

So here's to making your dream a reality,

Edel V
